wrenslastlaugh: So I watched the pilot of Glee about a year and a half ago, after hearing all the buzz about it. I thought it was stupid. Whatever. Since then, as everyone knows, it’s blown up. PEOPLE ARE SO INTO GLEE. Didn’t it win a bunch of Emmys? Or something? Sure, it’s on Fox, but so was Arrested… Ever read the Theory of 3 Glees? Glee is a tri-polar show because its 3 creators...

Writers block fucking blows. I’m staring at the first word of an article with no idea what phrase goes next or where exactly the argument is in my head.  I figure getting a couple words out somewhere would really help get the flow going. Thus, I’m bringin’ it back y’all.

"Feelings"
I’ve become increasingly aware of my “feelings” whilst listening to music since my run in with Angel Deradoorian and “Two Doves.” Like Girl Talk once said, “as long as music makes you feel, it’s good music.” Or something to that degree, I don’t remember the exact quote. But is wanting to groove a feeling though? Like a feeling that is on par...

On Procrastination
I have a theory about procrastination. This may be an idea that Merlin Mann broached in his last video podcast about productivity, but I swear I hadn’t seen it yet. Procrastination, at least for me, comes from uncertainty about the future. The one step that needs to be taken is terrifying because you don’t understand the final product of this action. I know that general studying and...

Symbolic Logic
I’ve been meaning to write about my Wednesday Games and Strategic behavior class for a while now, but with the sickness and whatnot, it just hasn’t come out. But something shocked me to my core that day, something that will change my knowledge of mathematics and numbers forever. Did you know that numbers/symbols can actually be used as words? Not just like the word “one”...

Another way to procrastinate
I’m in the middle of making a studying playlist consisting of 10 minutes of straight brown noise and then a two minute song. Problem is, most songs under two minutes in my iTunes aren’t songs but either the weird static of TV on the Radio’s Return From Cookie Mountain or banter from the odd live shows I downloaded. Is it hard to compress musical ideas to under two minutes? It...

Hypocrite!
I’m listening to a Merlin Mann talk about how creative work is hindered by the fear of starting, about how the planning for the start becomes the entire project only to sidetrack you from the getting anything done. I’m not getting anything done.

Bring da noize
In lieu of all the weather talk (it’s awesome!), I’d like to say something about capacities for attention: I have very little. Cure? www.simplynoise.com Set it to brown noise and just let it wash over you. I can’t do homework to instrumentals or lyrical music because really, really distracts me. This is the only thing that keeps my mind from wandering while doing homework.

Lately, I have deleted at least three posts on this stupid thing, all about flaws in my character or things that are eating at my insides. Then, I noticed that I don’t give a fuck and it’s stupid for people to read that shit. Instead, here’s a poorly written poem about kitties that I thought up in the three minutes that lead to my passing out. kitties black with white on their...

Well hello, I haven’t seen you there in awhile. No, no, I’m doing just fine and dandy. Oh? You’re getting fucked sideways by finals? What a coincidence, me too! Yeah, that arabic test was the worst. Mr. Clean
Last semester, I had a 3.922 GPA. This semester, I will be lucky to have made a 2.00. I am really screwing the pooch this time around. Largest disappointment? Literary Investigations. Terrible class, getting terrible grades. My only hope? the final exam. That and the hope that my grades in other classes will at least quell the insatiable hunger for good grades that my parents so desperately seek....

It's a brand new day
The thing about the internet age is that shit comes at you like a firestorm. Two days ago, my internet was busted. I was forced to crawl to friends for my email, facebook, and general interwebz housekeeping. It was hell. Today I found out that 3 albums I very much want have leaked. I have them now. I could have had them 2 days ago, but I was too lazy to log onto indieexchange.

Social Situations Scare Me
Sitting at the airport, I can only think of how terrified flying makes me. Not the plane, looking down at the ground doesn’t scare me unless I’m on a cliff or something. No, the fear comes from not being able to fit my suitcase into the overhead bin, sitting next to a complete stranger or that I didn’t do something correctly and the entire trip is ruined. Does that make me an...

Achievements
Today marks a fantastic day in the life of Jonathan Estuart. I finally finished A Confederacy of Dunces. I’ve been trying to complete it for ages and now it’s done. What a satisfying conclusion though. The sheer intensity and rush in the final 10 pages. Now, onto the arduous task of getting through Frankenstein, Capital, Jimmy Corrigan The Smartest Kid on Eart and Midnights Children.

“Jonathan Estuart’s dick is afraid of you.” - Jonathan Estuart’s latest facebook status. Strong women scare me. There’s a bunch at the Hullabaloo, in my circle of friends, Natalie Portman. All this fear is exacerbated by the complete control that Metric has over my iTunes library. Emily Haines is hot/creepy/petrifyingly hot.

San Diego
The first step off the plane was exquisite. The fresh, not humid, air. The soft chill. It made me think twice about not attending school here. The familiar foods warmed my eyes. The gorgeous weather, the, dare-I-say-it, beautiful people. All California staples. Bad thing about San Diego? Not much. Honestly, though, I could do without the wrenching loneliness that goes along with the territory. ...

And now I'm awake.
I’ve been meaning to post this awhile ago, but never got a chance to sit down and write it out (you can thank Mardi Gras for that great pleasure). I hate Literary Investigations. Today I saw the nerdtacular nerdfest that is Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse.” This dude knows what he’s doing. Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog and Firefly are among some of my favorite pieces of television. Dollhouse was good, not great, but Whedon’s shows usually never start off strong (see: Firefly). I did like the callouts to Battlestar Galactica though. One of the...

What's the deal with ______?
This weeks edition: twee pop. I read Pitchfork’s Twee-Pop manifesto awhile ago. It didn’t feel like typical Pitchfork fare. It was genuinely informative and historical. And since, I’ve been in love with twee. Beat Happening, Heavenly, The Magnetic Fields, The Lucksmiths, Los Campesinos! and Tullycraft all have songs that I frequent. There’s something oddly soothing as...

I’m lazy as fuck. Parker pointed out today that all he sees me do is go to class, sleep, sometimes do work and play computer games. And I suppose that is my life. Here’s to change. I will wake up at a decent hour tomorrow and head to the gym. I will not use the snooze button and head to the park with Ryan and Amy on Mondays and Wednesdays. I’ll make it work out. And now for...

I’m noticing the Hullabaloo takes up more of my time than I thought it originally would. I find myself swamped with emails, trying to set up things weeks ahead and just generally thinking about what’s happening this week in regards to the paper. A Profound Realization of Philosoraptorical Sorts
As I was reading Marx today, I was fucking amazed at how money works. Can you just imagine, everyone in the entire world agreeing (without even realizing it) that this piece paper is worth something else. Obligatory "Is this what I want?" Post
Literary Investigations is mind-numbing. Not only could I care less about Keats, poetry is beyond me, but the class endlessly grinds my gears. I get sleepy during the lectures and I tune out during the discussions. Each “discussion” usually just ends up with the foreign latina (?) girl saying something steeped in cliche. Today was just more of the same. The age-old question, do we live...

Achievement Accomplished
Achievements in videogames are the most sad thing in the world. Here you are, sitting at your chair, “achieving” things that don’t really have any real weight attached to them. So what if I defeated Edwin Van Cleef, so what if have a Blackened Defias Set. There really is nothing that I can do with that. It’s pathetic. I don’t can’t won’t stop. Lately...
